No Davidson? Not Watching.

with one comment

Alright, maybe a little bit of a stretch, but this sucks. I am not going to watch my second favorite athlete, Stephen Curry, play in March. Not unless if I tune into the NIT, at which point I would rather watch the WNBA. Curry did all he could to win a bid into the NCAA tourney, but his Davidson team lost in the Southern Conference semi-finals to Chareleston on Sunday. Davidson went in as the #1 seed, but did not have a complimentary player to protect Steph Curry, unlike last year when Jason Richards was a very good compliment. The nation’s leading scorer poured in 20 points (5-18.. yikes) last night and 43 (11-18 in 27 minutes!) the night before in the quarter-finals. With the loss, Davidson is unlikely to earn a bid for the NCAA tournament.

I cannot emphasize how much this sucks. This sucks! I was looking forward to watching Curry play in one more tourney before he peaces out to the NBA. Now what do I have to look forward to? Duke squeaking by the second round and lose to some mid-major… again? Gahhhhhh!!

Why do I like Curry so much? He is so clutch. When the game is on the line, everyone knows he is getting the ball. You can deny him the ball all you want, but he will eventually get it and win the game. It was unbelievable to watch him the past 2 seasons in the tourney. One thing is for sure, the NIT won’t have this much exposure as it will this year in a long time. I wish him luck in the NIT. Who knows, I might catch one of his games vs Cleveland State or something.

Just a little note regarding North Carolina senior, Tyler Hansborough. Congratulations on a very accomplished career at the best basketball programs in the world. As a Duke fan, you were a very formidable adversary for the last 4 years. I am not sure how good on an NBA player you will be, but I wish you luck. By the way, Gerald didn’t do it on purpose.

  1. I would love to see Curry in the tournament but it does not look like it will be in the cards this year. The tournament will miss him. The tournament will still be great but it loses a little of its juice after last year’s darlings made that run. Here is to hoping the committee messes up and puts Davidson in!
