Mission Cap of the Night: Jason Arnott.
Jason Arnott scored 2 goals, including the overtime game winner and added an assist last night to beat the Edmonton Oilers. The win propelled Nashville from 9th to 7th spot in the standings (hopping over Edmonton and Anaheim). It was a good win right before the trade deadline, but it may somewhat confused things for the team. Had they lost, would they have been sellers? But they won, so they may be looking for some forward depth. Joel Ward has been amazing since being called up, but I would like to see this team add a decent scoring forward.
They have a very capable Dan Ellis sitting on the bench, and this team has a history of falling in love with their hot backup goalie and trading away their #1 (see: Tomas Vokoun, Chris Mason). Perhaps they do not even need to make a trade because there is a good offensive player in Milwaukee right now: Patric Hornqvist.
Do they dare throw Alexander Radulov on the table? Unlikely. Congratulations again Arnie for the 2 and 1 last night. Also, here’s a big ‘fuck you’ to Ales Hemsky, who was a -1 when the Oilers scored 5 goals. If Edmonton wants to make a run at the playoffs, Hemmer needs to step up. Someone needs to tell him that he needs to show up for every game.
