Mission Cap of the Night: Antti Niemi.

On a night when Martin Brodeur got his 100th career shutout and Jarome Iginla scored his 400th career goal and moved passed Theo Fleury for the all-time Calgary Flames scoring lead, the Mission Cap of the Night goes to former Pelicans goaltender Antti Niemi. Niemi made his first career NHL start last night for the Chicago Blackhawks and made 22 saves for his first career win. Although he gave up 2 goals against the Los Angeles Kings, he got his first career win in his first career start. What a milestone.

Not only did he win his real game last night, he also won me a playoffs series in NHL 06 a few weeks ago when my Pelicans team beat Olli Jokinen’s Jokerit team in Finnish Elite League play. The team was led by Ville Leino, who was traded to my team mid season. He recorded a hatrick in game 4 of the semi-finals matchup.

Other News: I have lost track on what is going on with Bill Guerin. There are reports now that he is not getting traded. The top 5 teams in the East have all said that they are not trading for Guerin. Montreal and Pittsburgh look to still be contenders for Bill G.
