Mission Cap of the Night: Jaroslav Halak/Pekka Rinne.
The first ever co-winners of the award. What is more impressive: making a 30 save shut out of the defending champs, or giving up 2 goals on 44 shots against an equally offensive team in the San Jose Sharks. Right now it looks like the former is more impressive, but I assure you Halak made some very good saves to keep the Habs in the game.
The Predators were able to get off to a quick 4-0 lead and Rinne could relax a little bit. While the Canadiens got off to a quick start, Halak needed to old off Jumbo, Marleau and Seto all night long because they were constantly buzzing around the net. Marleau, Thornton and Vlasic each hit a post.
This was a very big in for the Canadiens. With the rumor mill churning about a possible Guerin addition, this could give them confidence to believe that they are a legit cup contender. Where is Carey Price?
