Breaking News: Guerin Trade Pending, Howson in Ottawa.

During warm ups in tonight’s game vs the Buffalo Sabres, Islanders’ forward, Bill Guerin was pulled off the ice. According to Chris Botta from, the Islanders have a deal in place that would send Bill Guerin to an Eastern team. According to Andy Strickland from hockeybuzz, New Jersey and Boston are not likely destinations. By the way, I love reading Andy Strickland. Before he was with hockeybuzz, I have always tried to keep up to date with his blogs. He seems to know everything before anybody else.

My guess is that Big G is going to.. Pittsburgh? I don’t know if they are likely. They just made a trade for a forward. Perhaps Washington, maybe the Rangers.

Update: Mr Botta at just updated his blog. Montreal and Washington seem likely destinations. At minimum, the Isles will recieve a 2nd round pick. Guerin would only waive his NTC to a Cup contender. How many of those are in the East? Since Boston isn’t one of the teams, Washington seems like the team.

Another note: just watching the Leafs and Sens. GM of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Scott Howson is at the game, probably watching Nik Antropov, who just seem to get hurt. Doesn’t look serious, but he hobbled to the bench. Looks like some kind of lower back strain. He looks alright. Howson, don’t go for Antropov, Jokinen is your man.

Update, 2:45 am: Andy Strickland is reporting that Guerin will not be going to Washington. WTF? If Guerin only wanted to waive his NTC to go to a Stanley Cup contender, and Boston, NJ and Washington are the only real contenders in the East, then where could he be going? Is Montreal considered a contender?
