Game of the Night: Sharks @ Bruins
Wheeeeew! We have the top teams from the East and West going at it tonight. As an added bonus, Joe Thornton returns to the team that drafted him. But this is a side story.
The main story tonight will be who can establish themselves as the best team in the league? Sure, Detroit and Washington are in the mix too, but San Jose and Boston have been atop their respective standings for virtually the entire year. This is the game to watch of the year so far.
Boston has continued to win, but has slowed down their production somewhat after the break. The second line of David Krejci and Blake Wheeler were benched for much of the 2nd and 3rd period in their last game. Secondary scoring will be key tonight as the big shut down defensemen will have their hands full with top lines all night
The Sharks have really been struggling after the all star game. They have lost their past two games, including a loss at home to the ‘Canes. The top line needs to get back on their horse again. However, Chara and the boys cannot solely concentrate on the top guns because the Sharks’ second line has been as productive if not more than the 1st line.
I think Todd McClellan will have his boys jump right out of the gate and go for the quick first blow.
Prediction: Sharks Win 4-2, Marleau empty netter.
