Mission Cap of the Night
At 50 Mission Cap Blog, I will reward a person, place or thing with the Mission Cap of the night to a person, place or thing that I believe deserves such an honor.
The first ever Mission Cap of the Night belongs to Marian Hossa of the Detroit Red Wings.
Hossa was in tough on Sunday, as there was an unbelievable NBA schedule on ABC, whose second game featured Kobe vs LeBron. However, Kobe had “flu-like symptoms” which led to a un-Kobe like performance and LeBron wasn’t very good (5-20, 16 points).
On the other hand, Hossa came back to Pittsburgh yesterday afternoon on NBC to get booed everytime he touched the puck. Chants of “traitor” clouded Melon Arena. Hossa, unfazed, made a nice little move around Jordan Staal and went roof daddy on Marc Andre Fleury with a wicked backhand.
Detroit won 3-0. In a related topic, wtf happened to the Penguins? Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby were invisible yesterday. I think it’s the coaching. There is no way you can have the top 2 scorers in the league on your team and not be in a playoff spot this deep into the season. Something has to change. Gonchar has to come back soon.
